Customs Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customs Clearance: Manage and oversee the customs clearance process for all road shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Temperature-Controlled Products: Handle the specific requirements and documentation for temperature-controlled food products, ensuring they meet all safety and compliance standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local and international customs laws and regulations, ensuring all shipments comply with the latest standards.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and submit all necessary customs documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
  • Client and Partner Liaison: Act as the primary contact for clients and partners, responding quickly and effectively to inquiries and issues related to customs processes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of customs clearance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline customs operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate and manage customs audits and inspections, addressing any issues promptly to avoid delays and penalties.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks related to customs compliance, implementing robust procedures to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records and generate reports on customs activities, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience at the management level in customs clearance, particularly with road shipments and temperature-controlled food products.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of customs regulations and procedures, especially for perishable goods.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of reacting quickly to client and partner needs.
  • Technology: Proficiency in customs management software and tools.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and manage risks.
  • Ability to work in early morning shifts.
