Freight Administrator

ECS Recruitment is currently hiring a Freight Administrator for our client based on the Greenogue Business Park.
Overview:
As a Freight Administrator, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing freight activities to ensure the smooth transportation of goods. You will be responsible for handling administrative tasks related to shipping, tracking shipments, and communicating with carriers and vendors to ensure timely delivery. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage freight shipments, including documentation, scheduling, and tracking.
  • Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate transportation logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documents.
  • Monitor freight costs and negotiate rates with carriers to optimize transportation expenses.
  • Resolve shipping issues and discrepancies in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure accurate inventory levels and timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Provide administrative support to the logistics department, including data entry, filing, and maintaining databases.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to freight transportation and logistics.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Proven experience in freight administration, logistics coordination, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and shipping software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry standards is desirable.
