HGV Mechanic

ECS Recruitment is hiring for an experienced HGV Mechanic.
You will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). You will be responsible for conducting routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of HGV trucks, ensuring they are in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
The successful candidate will have prior experience working with HGV trucks and possess strong mechanical aptitude.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations to keep HGVs in optimal condition.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic equipment and troubleshoot to identify root causes.
  • Conduct repairs on engine components, transmissions, brakes, and other systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Complete scheduled servicing and inspections according to manufacturer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize computerized systems to accurately record maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labour hours.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and other departments to prioritize workload and address urgent repair needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes relevant to HGV maintenance and repair.


  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, with a strong emphasis on working with DAF HGV trucks.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in HGVs.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment used for troubleshooting vehicle issues.
  • Solid understanding of HGV maintenance procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional weekends as needed.
