The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s overall business performance, ensuring key objectives in sales, profitability, staffing, internal and external stakeholders management and customer satisfaction are achieved.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the hotel team and Group Resources to create and implement an annual business plan aligned with Group strategy and other business units.
- Set clear goals and provide strategic direction to the team.
- Translate strategy into actionable processes, projects, and structures to ensure swift and effective implementation across all operations.
- Analyze operational performance to identify areas for development and ensure strategic goals are met.
- Ensure the business plan is communicated throughout the organization and pursued aggressively, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Partner with the Revenue Manager and Group Marketing Manager to drive room sales and achieve budgetary targets, participating in weekly sales and yield meetings.
- Work closely with the Deputy General Manager to align Food, Beverage, Conference, and Banqueting operations with the overall hotel plan, providing support where needed to achieve objectives.
- Collaborate with the Group Financial Accountant to forecast business levels and control costs accordingly.
- Ensure labor productivity aligns with forecasted business levels and budget, in partnership with the Deputy General Manager.
- Manage purchasing, stock, and equipment levels in coordination with the Finance Department.
- Monitor and control departmental costs with input from Heads of Departments (HODs), addressing any negative deviations.
- People management.
- Oversee the overall health and safety of the hotel and grounds.
- Drive marketing initiatives, ensuring the team is focused on maximizing opportunities.
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitive practices to ensure the hotel’s offerings remain competitive.
- Maintain active membership in relevant industry bodies.
